Navistar settles benefits lawsuit

Article Abstract:

Navistar International Corp. Canada has agreed to pay C$2.6 million to settle a lawsuit filed by around 1,300 retired salaried employees, complaining that the company removed some of their benefits. The amount would cover eliminated benefits that include out-of-country medical payments, vision care benefits and dental care payments. The suit, filed in London, Ontario, also imposed that the truck maker maintain existing postretirement health benefits for life. The company has approximately 300 salaried employees in Canada and operates a plant in Chatman, Ontario, and a sales office in Hamilton, Ontario.

Western Star to announce B.C. expansion

Article Abstract:

Western Star Truck Holdings Inc. has revealed its plan to expand its truck manufacturing plant in Kelowna, BC, in cooperation with the government of British Columbia. The provincial government will invest between C$50 million and C$60 million in the expansion project. The plant expansion is expected to create around 200 jobs.

Sweden's decision on euro uncertain

Article Abstract:

Anna Lindh, the former Foreign Minister of Sweden, was murdered in a shopping center by an unknown gunman. Ms. Lindh, who was stabbed in a Stockholm department store, was a leader in the campaign for adopting the euro.
