Magazines reduce prices to fortify subscribers, ad revenue

Article Abstract:

More magazines are reducing prices to boost circulation and, subsequently, attract higher advertising revenue. Rates for Hachette Filipachi's Woman's Day and George and Primedia's Seventeen declined by 28%, 22% and 13%, respectively. The reasons for wanting to boost their subscriber base and their ad revenue base include an expected postal rate increase, the loss of sweepstakes promotions and shrinking advertising budgets.
