New Nav Canada fees to cut cost of flying nearly 20%

Article Abstract:

Nav Canada is set to introduce new air travel fees that would effect a drop in the cost of flying in Canada by over C$100 million or almost 20% in 1999. The non-profit company, which took over Canada's air traffic control system in late 1996, will levy the new fees from cargo shippers and foreign airlines flying in Canadian air space. Those services will be charged around C$150 million more each year as compared to their previous fees. Nav Canada will excise the fees in November two months after a consultation period with airlines and interested parties.
