Most Ontarians believe heath care deteriorating

Article Abstract:

Toronto, Ont.-based Angus Reid Group has conducted a survey on health care in Canada in which 71% of Ontario residents say they are very dissatisfied with the province's health care system. The survey, which polled 1,000 Ontario residents in December 1999, also found that a majority of Ontario residents favor a tax increase to pay for heath care reform.

New push for a single regulator: Minister overseeing OSC says business needs to deal with one national body

Article Abstract:

Gerry Phillips, chairman of the Management Board states that if businesses have to prosper then Ontario and the other provinces must give up regulatory control of the securities industry to a national regulator. Gerry Phillips who is also a veteran businessman and MPP is trying to eliminate every unnecessary impediment to the business community.

Ontario proposes 4-year plan for single securities watchdog

Article Abstract:

The Ontario government is proposing a four-year road map for the creation of a single national securities regulator. A single regulator and single set of laws would replace the existing system consisting of 13 provincial and territorial regulators, each administering their own securities act.
