OSC head Brown to step down: Decision surprises Street at time when agency is bracing for overhaul

Article Abstract:

Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) chairman David Brown is stepping down in June 2005 at a critical time for Canada's most powerful securities regulator, which is bracing for a major overhaul of its operations and is under scrutiny over its lackluster enforcement record. Brown's departure came as a surprise because he was just appointed for another five-term in April 2003 and was the sole advocate for a single regulator.

Moore suspends CFO over memo

Article Abstract:

Moore Wallace Inc. has suspended two employees, including its chief financial officer, for giving a false document to investigators who were hired to probe allegations of accounting impropriety. The CFO Mark Hiltwein and another member of the company's accounting staff are suspended with pay until accounting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, can complete a probe.
