OSC orders four Internet firms shut down

The Ontario Securities Commission ordered four Canadian Internet services to shut down due to fraudulence. The four services were First Federal Capital Corp., Global Privacy Management Trust, www.cashgalore.com, and an individual named Warren English. All four are alleged securities violators.

The Ontario Securities Commission are investigating Montreal, Que.-based Royal Bank of Canada's RT Capital Management Inc. The stock price manipulation scandal, which includes Strategic Value Corp., has undermined investor confidence in Canada's pension fund industry.

Royal unit struggles for settlement

The Royal Bank of Canada continues to try to negotiate a settlement with the Ontario Securities Commission over RT Capital Management's stock price manipulation scandal. Air Canada, one of the bank's largest clients, announced it may pull out.
