The power of choice

Article Abstract:

Electric and natural gas companies have stepped up their marketing campaigns in light of a tightening competition brought about by a deregulated energy industry. Aside from the usual marketing ploys, companies are offering electric, gas, telephone, Internet and home- security services into one package to attract more customers. The deregulation has also resulted to an emergence of new electric and gas companies as well as Web-based discount energy suppliers.

Companies rush to bring you NET for free

Article Abstract:

Internet World Wide Web companies such as Yahoo and Excite at Home are joining the ranks of traditional retailers which are scrambling to tempt the 33 million US households who have yet to go online by offering them free Internet access. This is evidenced in at least three major deals where Internet access providers have teamed up with an established Internet or bricks-and-mortar company. The latter becomes the start page of the ISP while the former benefits from the marketing clout of the established firm.
