Officials have known SUV tire suspicions for decade

Article Abstract:

Documents filed at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicate that the federal government has known for at least 10 years that the tread of some Firestone tires suddenly peeled off resulting in crashes. The documents show that Bridgestone/Firestone Inc was already aware and had been investigating the accidents involving Firestone tires since 1992 and that Ford Motor Co had already received complaints regarding failure of Firestone tires for also 10 years.
