Olympic sponsors call the shots

Article Abstract:

The balance of power in controlling the management of the Olympic games has shifted from the Olympic Committee, whose members accepted bribes from cities wishing to host the Olympics, to the corporate sponsors of the games. Corporate sponsors such as McDonald's, IBM, Coca-Cola, and Eastman Kodak spend millions of dollars to support the production and advertising of the games. Corporate sponsors are insisting guilty Olympic Committee members resign, and do not wish their corporate names to be associated with corrupt officials.
