On Anzac & Fifth

Article Abstract:

In 1941, Nola Luxford, a New Zealand socialite based in New York City, completed a project to build the Anzac garden on top of a building overlooking Fifth Avenue, and the garden is still used for an annual Anzac Day ceremony. For four years during World War II, Luxford ran the Anzac Club, which provided free entertainment for Australian and New Zealand servicemen on leave in New York.

Out of the doldrums

Article Abstract:

The management of the Admiral's Cup has named the Sydney 40 as the design for the middle boat for each team in the 1999 race. The Sydney 40 is designed and built in Australia. The Admiral's Cup selection will be a boost for the builder, Nowra-based Bashford International, and Murray Burns Dovell, the Sydney-based partnership that designed the yacht.
