On any window or wall, a portable touch screen; a light projector turns blank surfaces into interactive menus

Article Abstract:

Dr. Claudio Pinhanez, a researcher at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, has led the development of the Everywhere Displays projector. The device's application is to turn any blank surface into an unwired active touch screen. This device would allow lessons to be projected onto the desks of students and menus onto restaurant table-tops. Similar research is being done at NY company Jestertek. More work needs to be done on correcting distortions in the projected images.
