Article Abstract:

Universities in Australia are luring top students from other schools, allocating funds to scholarship programs at a time when federal funding is being reduced. The Asian economic crisis will reduce the amount of foreign funds paid to Australian schools. Staff salaries have to be raised to match their counterparts in public service, causing some schools to quit the Australian Higher Education Industrial Association and bargain with professors independently.

Students of crime: the flood of overseas students into Australia is bringing with it a wave of often-violent crime that is alarming the police

Article Abstract:

Chinese students emigrates to Australian universities, colleges and schools and some students among them get engaged in criminals activities, including robbery, fraud, extortion and kidnapping to obtain ransom from wealthy families. The emigration officials in Beijing discovered some bank managers who were being bribed to provide false information about student's accounts.
