Ontario Hydro halts nuclear asset sale

Article Abstract:

Ontario Hydro has temporary cancelled the sale of its nuclear assets pending the outcome of Ontario, Canada's restructuring of electricity sector, according to documents obtained by The Globe and Mail under right- to-know laws. The documents include a contract hiring New York, NY-based investment bank Salomon Smith Barney to serve as Ontario's exclusive financial adviser for the proposed neclear asset sale.

Abitibi sued over N. Ontario logging

Article Abstract:

A lawsuit filed by Sierra Legal Defence Fund on behalf of three native trappers alleges that Montreal, Que.-based Abitibi-Consolidated Inc. illegally obtained a logging license in Northern Ontario. The lawsuit was brought by members of the Grassy Narrows First Nation tribe, which is located near Kenora, Ontario.

Nuclear plant had a long list of failings

Article Abstract:

The Bruce nuclear power station was at increasing risk of experiencing dangerous accidents, according to a report compiled in 1998 by the World Association of Nuclear Operators. Poor work habits, lack of experience, and bad maintenance were some of the problems at the power station.
