Research firms predict the trend toward micro devices will boost the hand-held computer and smart devices market, significantly impacting the revenue of desktop computer makers. New information needs will provide the impetus for the creation of products that are both portable and multi-purpose. Even with the economic crises in Asia, the smart hand-held devices market grew 37.5% in 1998 .
