Our fight to stop those deadly bugs

Article Abstract:

Infectious diseases such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, hepatitis C, AIDS, and influenza are responsible for over 150,000 deaths in the US, annually. Cases of pneumonia and influenza, which were once thought to be somewhat under control, have risen in recent years due to the evolution of antibiotic-resistant strains. People can help protect themselves against infectious diseases by getting vaccinated, washing their hands often, avoiding unsafe behaviors such as drug use and unprotected sex, and staying healthy with a balanced diet, exercise and plenty of sleep.
