Volvo updates wagons

Article Abstract:

Volvo AB of Sweden will introduce its 70-Series station wagons in Apr 2000. The 2000 model V70 and V70XC are derived from the same chassis as the very successful S80 sedan, the company's flagship product, but are of smalller design. Volvo, which controls 60% of the station wagon market, has also announced that it will begin installing a `smog-eating' treatment on its vehicles. The treatment, called PremAir, is a catalyst coating that is applied on the radiator and is capable of converting smog into pure oxygen.

General Motors to keep on truckin'

Article Abstract:

General Motors Corp (GM) is confident that the market is not moving away from sport utilities (SUVs) despite other automaker's problems and relatively high gas prices. GM CEO G Richard Wagoner believes that full- size SUVs are highly in demand since dealers have excess demand for those. The preference is so stong that it could wipe out traditional sedans. Wagoner predicted that sedans will get taller and blockier to emulate the elevated driving position and interior space of SUVs.
