Petrocan sued over Arctic stakes

Article Abstract:

Petro-Canada has been sued for C$30 million by two wealthy American brothers, who said they have the right to buy back the company's exploration claims off northern Baffin Island in the Arctic. Landon T. Clay and Harris Clay owned a company, Baffin Bay Petroleum Ltd, which the suit claims owned exploration rights on three million acres. Baffin Bay later sold the rights to Petrocan but reserved the right of first refusal the buy the permits back, according to the lawsuit. In an agreement with Ottawa, Petrocan has swapped the permits for exploration rights to a huge area of the Pacific Ocean off British Columbia.
