Philip insurer refuses to honour claims

Article Abstract:

Philip Services Corp's liability insurer, Liberty Mutual Insurance Co, is refusing to recognize claims by former officials of the firm, stating misrepresentations linked with the insurance policies. The scrap metal and industrial services firm, which is seeking to restructure its debts under a Chapter 11 filing, has approximately $200,000 of liability insurance with Chicago, IL-based Liberty. The decision by Liberty leaves Philip's former official with no liability protection from costs related with potential lawsuits.
