Promis anticipates 20% growth in revenue

Article Abstract:

Promis Systems Corp. hopes that the use of semiconductor chips in more consumer electronics, such as cellular phones, will boost its revenues by at least 20% in 1998. The firm also believes that higher sales of its Encore software, which aids semiconductor chip makers operate their plants more effectively, will enable them to win contracts with customers such as Motorola Inc. Promis reported a revenue of C$6.8 million and a profit of US$658,000, in the first quarter that ended Mar. 31, 1998.

Delano Technology Corp is a maker of software that utilizes electronic mail systems as a means of delivering information between various departments and computer systems within a company. The company was founded in May 1998 by Bahman Koohestani and Tony Davis. Delano, which is said to be an acquisition target by Microsoft Corp, is expected to post revenues of $10 million by Mar 30, 2000. It hopes to start making profits by fiscal 2001.
