Phone phobia

Article Abstract:

The debate over the supposed harmful effects of cellular phones is still unresolved. One company, Microshield of the UK, has taken advantage of people's health concerns by developing and marketing a device that is claimed to filter up to 98% of radiation from cellphones. The company's Website (http://www/microshield.co.uk), contains reports and evidence proving the health hazards of cellphones. Cellphone manufacturers, on the other hand, say there is still not yet a single shred of convincing evidence linking cellphone radiation to any illness.

Big oil vs big auto

Article Abstract:

The fuel additive, MMT (methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl), is the subject of an intense debate in Canada, pitting the oil industry against the auto industry. The oil industry, which has been using MMT as an inexpensive octane enhancer for decades, is opposing a bill banning the the import and interprovincial trade of MMT. The auto industry, on the other hand, wants to ban MMT, which it claims causes new auto-emission- control technology to malfunction.

The lost art of listening

Article Abstract:

When the audience has difficulty hearing the players on stage, it's not always the microphone that is the problem because what is said is now amplified by modern tech equipment. It may be that people are so used to hearing everything aloud that they're unable to hear a regular speaking voice if spoken some distance away.
