Despite the hope of many international observers, Netanyahu has not backed down from his hardline pre-election pledges. Following his election, Netanyahu reasserted that he will never give Palestinians their own state, divide Jerusalem, or negotiate possession of the Golan Heights.

There is a strong bond between Canada and the UK, forged, in part, by sacrifices made during World War II and other conflicts. Eighty-three Canadians have won the UK's highest military honor, the Victoria Cross. 'The Book of Canadian Obituaries' highlights many of these war heroes.
