Turmoil leaves employees restless

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp employees are becoming worried over a move by the US government to break up the software giant. The breakup proposal may add more pressure to the company, which apparently is worried itself over retaining workers that CEO Steve Ballmer recently issued 70 million new options to 34,000 full-time employees at $66.62 each. Some employees have been leaving the company to work at Internet start-ups.

The mood swing for the company comes just as George W Bush is heading the polls for the presidential post. Microsoft has not endorsed a candidate. Howeverr, a bush-appointed antitrust chief is expected to be more willing to settle for something less drastic than a Microsoft breakup.
