Prostitution: will neighborhood crackdowns curb the sex trade?

Article Abstract:

Vocal citizen groups have forced police departments and politicians to address the issue of prostitution. Some cities are confiscating the cars of people who solicit prostitutes in an attempt to curb business. Prostitutes have been targeted as spreaders of AIDS, but some claim this is an unfair accusation because prostitutes are careful to use protection. Women's groups are debating the ethical aspects of selling one's body, and the debate over decriminalization has reemerged. Social, mental and legal aspects of prostitution are discussed.

Self-examination

Article Abstract:

Public broadcasting will continue to be on the lookout for sufficient sourcesof financing. Political conservatives have intermittently asked for the abolition of federal subsidy. Public broadcasters are, nevertheless, fighting back. The long-run strategy is to forge an effective private-public sector link. The controversy that hounds public sector is not likely to die down completely although it will surely survive the attacks of political quarters ofsociety.
