Street warfare: neighborhoods try to control the hooker trade

Article Abstract:

The city council in Toronto, Ontario, wants to decriminalize prostitution in Canada, but most Canadian cities are against the proposal. The regulation of prostitution is not likely to eliminate streetwalking. Some cities are videotaping potential customers and providing prostitutes with counseling.

The French drug RU 486 has not been approved for use in the US or Canada, but research shows the drug may be an effective morning-after contraceptive. Studies of the drug's potential in the treatment of breast cancer, tumors and endometriosis are being conducted.
