Quebec plans to ease price-tag rules for big retailers

Article Abstract:

Large surface retailers in Quebec, Canada, may be allowed to utilize bar codes instead of individual price tags for some products, if the regulation changes receive approval. Under the proposed changes, large retailers such as Loblaw Companies Ltd, Wal-Mart Stores Inc and Costco Companies Inc, may use bar codes for most of their products, but will be required to put large, easy-to-read prices on the shelves under the items. The rules will still exempt bar codes for clothing, which will still require individual price tags.
