Industry analysts said that consumers are suffering from technology fatigue, in part, because software and high-tech products are difficult to operate. The term, "bloatware," refers to computer and software systems that are so complex that users have trouble effectively using them.

XP fails to boost PC sales

Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp. has not achieved strong sales for its new Windows XP operating system. A new report from New York, NY-based Salomon Smith Barney Holdings Inc. reveals that slow retail sales of personal computers in the U.S. has hurt sales of the XP system.
