Report on Iraq Case Clears Blair and Faults BBC

Article Abstract:

Lord Hutton has issued his much-anticipated report that relieves Prime Minister Tony Blair of the charge of misleading the UK about threats from Iraq and the need to go to war. The report also blamed the BBC for allowing irresponsible journalism in castigating the prime minister for exploiting reasons to attack Iraq. The report motivated BBC chairman Gavyn Davies to resign. BBC reporters were not as willing to accept Hutton's evaluation of the situation because they feel it was their responsibility to investigate government actions and if they had any validity.
