Riptide system aims to beat on-line fraud

Article Abstract:

Riptide Technologies Inc of Vancouver, Canada, intends to unveil e-Tide, a system aimed at helping on-line gambling firms avoid credit card fraud. Incorporating data from Casino Watch, a data base that screens credit cards, e-Tide alerts Casino Watch members when players utilize credit cards having a history of fraudulent purchases or charge-backs. Riptide President Michael Meeks stressed that online gambling is its main market but e-Tide can also be used by sites that sell anything on the Internet and utilizing credit cards.

Fuel cell generators on way: Ballard

Vancouver, BC-based Ballard Power Systems Inc. has announced that it will introduce its new fuel cell-powered portable generators in 2001. Ballard Power, which is led by chairman and chief executive officer Firoz Rasul, has forged partnerships with Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG.

Ballard powers ahead with fuel cell

Article Abstract:

Burnaby, BC-based Ballard Power Systems Inc. has made progress on developing fuel cell technology required for use in vehicles with internal combustion engines. Ballard Power expects to begin producing between 250,000 and 300,000 fuels cell units annually by 2003.
