Rival bid would lose Coors ties

Leo Keily, chief executive officer of the US company stated that Adolph Coors Co. will sever its ties with Molson Inc. if the Canadian brewer falls into the hands of another buyer. His comments come as Coors and Molson aim to highlight the merits of their deal at a time when a potential rival bid from Ian Molson is gaining momentum.

Petrocan buying U.S. Rockies foothold with Prima acquisition

Article Abstract:

Petro Canada announced that it would acquire Prima Energy Cor. for $719 million to take advantage of the buoyant continental natural gas market. The company hopes to use the acquisition of Prima, particularly its expert staff, as a springboard to launch its efforts to develop coalbed methane production in Western Canada.

Central bankers slam exploding U.S. deficit

Article Abstract:

A new report from the U.S. Congressional Budget Office, which has worried central bankers, said that the federal deficit is expected to rise to record levels, reaching $410 billion in the current fiscal year. The report, which may reach $480 billion in fiscal 2004, did not include the costs of the war in Iraq.
