Canadian Press's (CP) 101 member-owners have frozen the national news services' budget and are considering changing its mission. Because most of CP's member newspapers are linked to one other in 10 newspaper groups, CP may be downgraded to a system for exchanging local reports among member newspapers.

Shaky freedoms: the U.S. Supreme Court challenges liberalism

The US Supreme Court has taken a conservative approach toward issues on freedom of speech and religion. The Court has also voted against affirmative action policies that have been in effect since the 1960s and has voted against measures to control racial discrimination.
