Baril condemns soldiers who participated in misconduct while members of CANBAT 2 during 1993 and 1994. The Canadian battalion was assigned to protect two isolated hospitals in Bakovici and Drin, Bosnia Herzegovina. Many of the soldiers allegedly sold black-market goods and engaged in sex with local women.

When children are vicious: fear mounts about the increase in violent youth crime

Article Abstract:

The violent crime rate in Canada declined by about 4% in 1995, but the youth violent crime rate doubled between 1986 and 1995. Young criminals are using more weapons and displaying no empathy for the victims. Emotional, financial and social problems contribute to the increase in the crime rate.

Women and AIDS: new reports show an increase of HIV among women

Article Abstract:

About 10% of 32,000 women in Canada who took the HIV test between Nov 1991 and Apr 1992 tested positive. The increase in the number of women who take the test and receive positive results demonstrates the need to educate women about HIV and AIDS.
