Slow Food Movement: British schools won't serve French fries

Article Abstract:

Celebrity Chef Jamie Oliver's revelation that British schools fed their children deep fried food has caused a big uproar in Britain and made Prime Minister Blair set up an independent School Food Trust to issue new food standards. The new rules banned potato chips, sugary drinks and candies were in British Schools and made it mandatory to feed children two portions of fruit and vegetables every day.

Junk food in schools

Article Abstract:

American schools face the problem of fast food and junk food being available in their premises. Experts fell that the U.S. Department of Agriculture should develop an alliance with the Department of Education and Health and Human Services for prescribing nutritious and healthy school lunch and shed it dual role helping both farmers and schools.

California's tough three-strikes law survives

Article Abstract:

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has warned that about 26,000 inmates would be released from California prisons leading to more crime and more victims if the three-strike law were passed. The sentencing policies according to the three-strike law are described.
