Soapberry turnaround washes out

Article Abstract:

Bath and body care retail chain Soapberry Financial Corp was forced into bankruptcy by its main creditor in Feb 1999, two years after consultant Frano Trousdell restructured and then bought the assets of the company. Coventry Financial Corp said that it is owed more than C$1.1 million. Trousdell acquired the then 22-store chain Soapberry Shop Inc for C$250,000, with Coventry as investor. However, the company suffered from poor cash flow and a failed $1-million private placement and $1-million IPO.
