Stock's performance is nothing to brag about: Shakeup aimed at reversing poor return

Article Abstract:

The shares of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) have decreased over the years, with reasons cited being low profits, declining return on equity and problems with its U.S. operations. RBC's chief executive officer, Gordon Nixon, is hoping to reverse the performance of the bank and its stock, through a massive change in management and overhaul of its organizational structure.

Retailers stock up, trim power

The Great Atlantic and Pacific Company of Canada Ltd. and other Ontario retail firms were forced to conserve energy during the recent power failure. Retailers struggled to keep their shelves stocked and were forced to dump some perishables.

Companies agree to reduce consumption

Article Abstract:

The massive North American power failure has led many industrial companies to reduce their energy usage during the crisis. The Association of Major Power Consumers of Ontario urged its member companies to scale back their energy usage.
