TD faces risk of losing CT's customers

Article Abstract:

Toronto-Dominion Bank has signed a deal to acquire Canada Trust for C$7.85 billion. However, the deal may alienate customers who prefer to deal with Canada Trust, which as built a reputation of providing its 3.7 million customers with a better level of service than the big banks. To prevent this scenario. TD said that it will convert the name of its retail bank to TD Canada Trust, and will adopt the trust company's model of service.
