Television's future: Should the government preserve limits on media ownership?

Article Abstract:

Rep. Edward J. Markey, Chairman of House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet, and Bruce M. Owen, Director of Public Policy Program Stanford University, have given their views on whether the government should preserve the rights on media ownership. Markey believes that the change in media-ownership rules might have a potential to change the society, whereas Owen believes that the neither Federal Communications Commission rules nor new laws restricting media ownership makes any sense.
