Neither the Liberals nor the Progressive Conservatives plan to retain New Democratic Party leader Bob Rae's policy of aiding failing businesses, even though Rae's critics concede that his bailouts have succeeded. Interventions saved Spruce Falls Power, de Havilland, and Algoma Steel from collapse.

Battle for Chrysler: Iacocca joins a bid that rocks Detroit's hottest automaker

Article Abstract:

Iacocca and financier Kirk Kerkorian have launched a $32-billion hostile takeover bid for Chrysler Corp. Kerkorian currently owns $2.8-billion in Chrysler stock and is the largest shareholder. CEO Robert Eaton is leading the fight to prevent the takeover.
