The feats of San Francisco

Article Abstract:

Qantas, which had suspended its service to San Francisco from 1995, have started the flights after eleven years and the advertising agency designated goodwill ambassador John Travolta and Gavin Newsom, the youthful mayor of San Francisco to welcome the first plane load of travelers. The city is remarkably seductive, culturally vibrant, welcoming to the tourist, and booming with the wine industry but nobody can forget the quake that razed the city in 1906 and the way it has sprung back to present day status modeling itself as an example for other cities, especially Sydney.

Fools for fuel: we've had ample warnings about diminishing resources and increasing fuel prices, yet they have had little effect on car buying. It's time for legislative reform, writes Ewen Page

Article Abstract:

Since fuel is a finite resource and prices are expected to increase tremendously in the next 30 years, the time has come for Australians to be more energy-conscious. It may take government policy to turn Australia's preference for big, powerful cars toward smaller, more fuel-efficient models. Consumers need a good reason to buy hybrid automobiles -- reasons such as tax breaks, registration discounts, freeway discounts, and parking privileges may help sway consumer opinion.
