The ink-stained masses

Article Abstract:

The Chinese are snapping up books on such topics as homosexuality, memoirs from the Cultural revolution and voyeuristic tales. Political topics remain sensitive, underground presses can publish once a book is banned and books have far less influence than television or newspapers.
