Article Abstract:

The 1980s have unleashed stress bombs aimed at American families. The 1990s have brought more. Today, Americans feel that they are spending less time with their loved ones. Mothers are compelled to help in augmenting the family income. Companies are obliged to implement policies which will allow workers to have more time with their families. Lawmakers are divided by conflicting opinions on whether companies should be pressured to provide programs that will ease the impact of the trend to the workers. The future of the American society lies in the diffusion of these present day stress bombs.

Article Abstract:

Press accounts of the alleged affair of presidential candidate Bill Clinton with Gennifer Flowers illustrates the fine line that divides journalistic ethics and the competitive demands of the newspaper field. Newspapers across the nation ran the story, raising the issue of privacy. Those that did not give any attention to the affair claimed moral superiority over those that did. Newspapers say such stories can lead to important revelations of a candidates' character and that readership demands such stories.

Public broadcasting in the US began in 1967 and ever since, it has been the object of attacks from conservatives. Several issues have been raised about theactivity. The first pertains to the alleged bias in favor of liberal thought. The second concerns the allegation about cable television having made the existence of public television redundant. The last issue questions the merits of continued government subsidy.
