Andy Sarlos' contacts made him the most influential securities trader in Canada, and he dominated financial markets as the head of HCI Holdings Ltd. Sarlos was a trusted advisor to other members of the financial community and gave advice freely and without a hidden agenda.

Peter Bronfman: the gentle, lonely tycoon

Article Abstract:

Bronfman died in Dec 1996 at age 67 just one week before he was to be presented with the Order of Canada for his contributions to 'innovative capitalism.' Bronfman was a quiet, gentle man who lived modestly despite his considerable financial success.

Thomas Hecht was appointed to the board of the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec, becoming the first Jew to hold that position. He is also an anglophone. His selection may be an attempt by the PQ to reach out to the Jewish community in Quebec.
