Article Abstract:

Secret evidence provided to the Defense Department inquiry indicates that the senior defense officials ignored and then dismissed the allegations of espionage without any top-level investigation. Lieutenant Colonel Lance Collins investigated these allegations, which were later supported by Martin Toohey's report, based on taped interviews that caused a disturbance in the Defense Department.

Operation Brereton

Australian Security Intelligence Organization (ASIO) has refused to participate in the plan to bug the office of Laurie Brereton, a leading politician, as planned by the Australian government. The government wanted to find out the source of the leak, which showed that the government was aware of the link between East Timor's militia and the Indonesian military.
