Tiny Maine town kills LNG project

Article Abstract:

Residents of Harpswell, a small Maine fishing town has rejected a proposal by TransCanada Corp. and ConocoPhillips Co. for a $350-million liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on the site of an abandoned fuel depot. However, with natural gas prices increasing, experts determine LNG as one of the keys to easing the North American natural gas supply crunch.

Nova Scotia fledgling offshore industry, the oil and gas exploration sector, is facing hard time as finding oil has become difficult. Some hope was built further, as EnCana Corp. reported encouraging results from two wells near its Deep Panuke natural gas field.

Sable project's flow rate could be double estimate

Article Abstract:

The Sable offshore natural gas project began pumping 100 million cubic ft of gas from the Sable Island area to the northeastern US on Dec 31, 1999. Production is expected to increase to 500 million cubic ft throughout 2000.
