How automakers are building safer cars

Article Abstract:

New safety features in American automobiles have helped reduce the incidence of vehicle related fatalities. The continuing implementation of the 1966 National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act has contributed to the decrease in accidents to motorists. Two of the latest and most effective of these safety features are the anti-lock brakes and air bags. Manufacturers are presently incorporating these systems to new vehicles under production.

Should road building in the national forests be halted temporarily?

Article Abstract:

Some in the US Forest Service argue that a temporary halt in building roads in forests is necessary for Congress and the Clinton administration to find the best possible policies that would meet the needs of people and minimize the damage to the environment. However, some in Congress argue that the halt in road constructions has cost jobs and will do little in terms of protecting the environment.
