Too much, too soon

Article Abstract:

This article describes the aftermath of elections in the state of Victoria, Australia, in October 1999, in which the Liberal-National Coalition government of Premier Jeff Kennett barely survived in power while suffering significant losses. Relevant points include how the results suggested that voters believed that Kennett was moving too fast and too far in pushing his various reforms.

His personal guarantee helped the state accept the Liberal Party's GST and tax policies. There are speculations about his moving to federal politics although close associated deny such plans.
