Article Abstract:

A visit to Cuba delineates the difference between being a tourist and being a traveller. Cuban state policy necessarily makes blending in -- travelling as opposed to touring -- impossible, because the government isolates tourists in an attempt to control the flow of tourist dollars. Tourists are isolated from Cuba's harsh realities, yet bring negatives to Cuba such as the relentless pursuit of prostitutes and cheap cigars.
