Troubled waters

Article Abstract:

The vulnerability of ports and ships to terrorist has been identified, thus making it compulsory for all the countries including Australia to implement internationally mandated shipping and port facility security codes. The Australian federal budget has made provisions for spending on measures for elaborate waterfront security, and Australian ports with international facilities will have to conduct security audits and prioritize security measures, but there are many unresolved issues that need to be tackled.

Article Abstract:

United States Surgeon-General David Satcher plans to help improve Aboriginal primary health care delivery with education as the catalyst. Satcher's plans stem from his visit to South Australia, where Aborigines face a variety of health problems such as alcoholism, renal failure and a life expectancy 20 years below the average non-indigenous Australians.

PNG pipeline calls the tax tune

Article Abstract:

The proposed natural gas pipeline to be constructed between Queensland and Papua New Guinea is delayed by taxation changes. AGL Petroleum Ltd., chosen to design and operate the pipeline, claims the federal government's lower business taxes will not support the project.
