UK: QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FROM CARGO 2000

Article Abstract:

Cargo 2000, group of 25 freight forwards and carriers, whose aim is to achieve better efficiency by developing quality standards for various processes to be incorporated into software, has tested its international freight quality management system for the first time. The first process addressed was master airway bills. Involved in the project are Unisys, Traxon, Syntegra, Sita and Logetch, technology providers. There will be a review of results in Montreal, QC, in December 2000 and another series of tests in January 2001.

CHINA: CHINA AIRLINES' PLAN FOR CHINA EASTERN FAILS

Article Abstract:

China Airlines (Taiwan), airline, has not achieved its aim to acquire 25% of China Eastern (China), airline. The political tension between the two countries and disagreement over terms foiled the deal. China Airlines has leased a freighter plane from Atlas Air to enable it to achieve its aim to fly between the US and China.

UK: RUGBY CEMENT TO OUTSOURCE FOLLOWING TAKEOVER

TNT Logistics is to take over distribution of pulverised fuel ash and cement for Rugby Cement following the takeover of Rugby Cement by RMC Group in 2000. The contract is estimated at GBu 21m per year.
