UN summit to tackle poverty, war

Article Abstract:

The Millenium Summit of the United Nations will have goals which include cutting in half the number of people living in extreme poverty and/or having no access to safe drinking water. Also included are access to basic education for all children, computer literacy to people in the poorest countries, a global health network for doctors in remote hospitals and clinics, and a stop to or reversing of the spread of HIV-AIDS.

Missile defence not a 'deal-breaker', Cellucci says

Article Abstract:

The US Ambassador, Paul Cellucci, reported that Washington does not expect the minority Liberal government to be able to deliver a quick decision on Canadian participation in a Pentagon plan for a ballistic missile-defence system. The missile-defence question, is emerging as one of the trickiest issues that Canada Prime Minister, Paul Martin would have to deal with in a minority Parliament.
