U.S. Officials See Hussein's Hand In Attacks on Americans in Iraq

Article Abstract:

The DOD is examining intelligence reports that indicate Saddam Hussein may be near Tikrit where he is operating bomb attacks against US soldiers and others to undermine American coalition efforts in Iraq. Hussein is reportedly working with Gen. Izzat Ibrahim, the former second-in-command of the Iraqi government. The DOD has traced Ibrahim's contact with the militant group Ansar al-Islam, and suspects that Hussein may be taking a more active role in coordinating various forces that oppose the American-led invasion and occupation of Iraq.
